Instructions:

Step #1.

In a large bowl mix together flour sugar baking powder salt and nutmeg.

Step #2.

In a separate bowl whisk together the vanilla extract melted butter milk and eggs.

Step #3.

Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky and a little more flour.

Step #4.

Transfer the dough to lightly floured surface and knead it for a few minutes become smooth.

Step #5.

Roll out dough to 1/2 inch thickness use a doughnut cutter or two round cookie cutter one large and one small to cut out the doughnuts.

Step #6.

Place cut doughnuts on baking sheet lined with butter paper and let them rest for about 15-20 minutes.

Step #7.

While the doughnuts are resting heat vegetable oil in a deep pan for medium high flame.

Step #8.

Drop a few doughnuts into the hot oil being carefully not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for  2 to 3 minutes on each side become golden brown.

Step #9.

Remove doughnuts from oil with slotted spoon and place on paper towel lined plate to drain extra oil.

Step #10.

For the glaze whisk together the powdered sugar milk and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. If desired add food colour to the glaze to create different colours.

Step #11.

Dip each doughnut into the glaze allowing any excess glaze to drip off. Place glazed doughnuts on wire rack and add sprinkles if desired.

Step #12.

Let the set glaze for few minutes before serving.
